I might try this out, given the time its taking me at present. Is backwards
compatability with previous versions (0.7.6 specifically) maintained? (in
case I need to roll back)

This version is packaged entirely differently, as a number of small
*.py and *.pyc files, and installs somewhere in the user's
PYTHONPATH. It also has a very small C component, so requires a bit
of compilation.

A lot of the code had to be edited, so this version probably isn't
stable enough for "production" use.

But it uses much less CPU and should be 2 times faster or more
when checking large directories with few changes.

New in v0.9.0 (2002/06/17)
--------------------------

Changed lots of the code to distribute as standard python package
instead of single script. Installation procedure is also different.

Speed optimizations - average user might see speed increase of 2 or
more.
