0.7.6 slower than 0.6.1

Its about 1.2 Million at the moment.  but only a relatively small subset of
these change daily (62000 today).  Obviously these kinds of things are
largely OS and hardware dependent, but how does these figures sound in
relation to the time its taking?

Great I'll try and keep up with the development releases to see if I can get
any improvement.

Do you think compressing the diffs is adding extra time?  Can this be turned
off (my destination disk is 6G bigger that the source dir of 18G and I
delete increments after 7D).  As a thought are the diffs compressed at
source or destination end?  I would hope destination, or else I'd guess that
the compression on the ssh link is going to make them bigger(?)
